Are we just a wildlife rescue organisation or is ACRES more than that? This video gives insights on our work and our principles and why attending to the root of a problem is the key to solving any problem - in this case, cultivating compassion and ending animal cruelty.
ACRES rescues any wild animals in need of help in Singapore. This includes native wild animals (such as pythons, monitor lizards, civets and pangolins) and also exotic animals who have been illegally brought into Singapore to be illegally sold as pets, who may be handed over to us by their owners, or may be found abandoned.
At the AWRC, we provide enrichment for the animals so that they are able to adapt better when in the wild. We are also building a sanctuary to house some of the animals to allow them to enjoy the grass and fresh air.
ACRES Lao PDR established the ACRES Lao Wildlife Sanctuary: the country's first wildlife sanctuary. At the sanctuary, animals rescued from the illegal wildlife trade will be housed in naturalistic environments and given the best possible care. For several of them, after years of confinement as someone's pet, they will be able to act like wild animals again, and interact with others of their kind.
The saddest dolphins are the dolphins kept in captive. Not only are they confined in an unnatural habitat, they are forced to perform stunts and tricks to entertain us. Free the dolphins, return them to the oceans, to where the deserve to be!
