When I was a kid, I dreamed of being a Disney animator. Then life happened. In a good way. And after raising my son and teaching for 25 years, I retired and started working on my friends’ organic farm.

The pandemic of 2020 got me feeling like I needed to be productive in the sourdough-sort-of-way that everyone else seemed to be doing. After staring at my guitar for 9 months, I finally put it away. What I lacked in patience with the guitar, I made up for in animation.

So, at 53 I am learning to animate. I splurged and spent $10 on the Flipaclip app and, after a few hours of YouTube videos (I recommend Ally Animations and Alan Becker’s 12 Principles of Animation), I was off and running. I am inspired predominately by the music of the Dead and Dylan, as well as the design of Milton Glaser and things from the 1970s. And, of course, by the work of Charles M. Schulz.

And I’m still running (not literally 😂). I hope you enjoy my process as much as I am.
