In 2010 the Commissioner of Education for Massachusetts was set to close the Lowell Community Charter Public School (LCCPS) because of poor academic performance. This school served many children newly immigrated to the United States with a large Latino, South East Asian and African community. After replacing the entire Board of Trustees and bringing in new leadership, the school is thriving and a model of school turn-around.
Follow these charter schools on the West Bank of New Orleans as they pilot the Biggest Winner Math Challenge - creating a culture of success and achievement throughout their school.
