Here are 7 tips on how you can improve your photogaphy! There are things that I wish someone would have told me when I was first starting off, so I hope you get something out of this!
Here are my 7 Tips to Becoming a Better Photographer
1. Master Your Tools
Whether you're shooting with a smartphone, a film camera or an advanced DSLR or mirrorless camera, it's very important to master the equipment that you use to take your photos. Keep using your gear until it becomes second nature to you. Until it becomes part of you. That way, when you go out shooting, you don't have to worry about how to change your setting and how to turn on and off different functions. All of your energy and focus can be used to finding and capturing images.
2. Learn From the Masters (And Your Peers)
There are so many photographers who have come before us, and have already mastered what we aim to master. Learning from what people in the past have already accomplished is a good way to get ahead.
Take bits and piece from photographers you admire to create your own style, vision and success.
3. Learn to See Light
Light is more than just a means to illuminate a your subject. It changes your composition, becomes part of the subject and greatly affects the overall feel of a photo. Once you start "seeing" light, your photography will reach a new level.
4. Learn The Rules (And How to Break Them)
Photography rules are there for a reason. They're things that people have already had success with and things that we know will work when used properly. Learn as many rules as you can and try them out. When you encounter a situation where none of these "rules" work, try something new. Sometimes these experiments wont work, but when they do, you'll have a new set of skill to your disposal.
5. Shoot A Lot
Shooting A LOT is important is because the more we shoot, the more mistake we make, and the more we learn from them. You can read about photography as much as you want, but the quickest way to learning is to experience it. So shoot more and make more mistakes!
6. Share Your Work
To me, sharing your photos is a very important part of the photographic process. It sort of symbolizes the completion of a photo, and allows people to interact with the photo. That interaction breeds new life into the photo, and if you choose to do so, you can get a lot of feedback on how to improve your photography.
7. Always Have Fun With Photography
Last but not the least, always have fun.
