Dozens of nesting Osprey and their young, gathered in rookeries at the west side of the lake near Middleton's fish camp, filled the air with their high pitched chirps as they soared overhead, diving for fish to feed their almost grown chicks. I paddled in among the huge bald cypress trees and spotted turtles sunning themselves while alligators paused with eyes and nostrils nearly visible before quietly submerging, not to be seen again.
