Soul Brass Band brings the New Orleans party: known for its top-fight traditional brass band repertoire and second-line parades - night or day - Soul Brass Band’s unique signature of classic Soul infusion is unforgettable. The band’s deep academic musical roots underpin their brass band presentation - each musician is both a bandleader and highly-trained jazz musician. The result is a brass band that unleashes an utterly crisp and soulful sound. The birth of Soul Brass Band was by CeeLo Green's request: bandleader Derrick Freeman quickly assembled the perfect group for CeeLo’s music video, “Music to My Soul”. From that moment, Soul Brass Band’s all-star lineup formed into one of New Orleans’ new favorite bands, as well as at NN North Sea Jazz Festival, Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival, Spiagge Soul Festival, Ascona, Tel Aviv, and more.
