Ruler Taichi

https://rulertaichi.com/ - Ruler Taichi™ is the fighting form of the taiji ruler. Although there are many qigong forms which use the t’ai chi ruler for qi cultivation, no fighting form has been documented in the literature, or passed down through a martial arts family.

Unable to find any trace of how the ruler might be used to take on an opponent, I created my own forms based upon the Yang family short form, as developed by Professor Zheng Manqing. The ruler fighting forms adhere to the principles of taijiquan and can take on an opponent wielding either traditional or modern weapons.

I have created two versions of the form using either a single ruler, or two rulers used in tandem. The Single-Ruler form closely follows Professor Zheng’s solo taiji form. The Two-Ruler form is a shorter version of the Single-Ruler form, and is designed to take on large traditional weapons, such as a sword, staff, stick, or halberd, or to defend against deadly modern weapons such as a knife or gun.
