Morehead Planetarium and Science center has been inspiring generations in science and the stars. Now it's new mission is to bring science to all of North Carolina and expand it's presence in Chapel Hill.
Morehead Planetarium and Science Center is the informal science education unit of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Its programs include fulldome planetarium shows (including original shows produced by Morehead), Science 360 and Science LIVE! presentations, guest speakers, camps, classes and skywatching sessions. Morehead founded and administers the North Carolina Science Festival.
NCSF is a two-week-long, 500-mile-wide celebration of science! Founded in 2010 by Morehead Planetarium and Science Center, NCSF was the world's first statewide science festival. Today, NCSF presents hundreds of programs for all ages at libraries, schools, community colleges, universities, parks, businesses, community centers and other sites throughout North Carolina each year. More than one quarter-million North Carolinians have participated in NCSF events!
Morehead Planetarium and Science Center creates award-winning fulldome planetarium shows that are distributed worldwide. Morehead's production team shares its knowledge through tutorials and through its blog, "When In Dome."
DESTINY brings mobile science labs to middle and high schools across North Carolina. Founded in 2000 by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, DESTINY is presented by UNC's Morehead Planetarium and Science Center.
