Gonimbrasia belina is a species of emperor moth which is native to the warmer parts of southern Africa. Its largeedible caterpillar, known as the mopane worm or mopani worm, is an important source of protein for millions of indigenous southern Africans. The cicadas are a superfamily, the Cicadoidea, of insects in the order Hemiptera (true bugs). They are in the suborder Auchenorrhyncha, along with smaller jumping bugs such as leafhoppers andfroghoppers.
