This year the National Rural Self Help Housing Association is celebrating our 50th year and our 50,000th family #50yrs50khomes. More than 100 organizations across the US recruit families and individuals for self-help programs, train them in construction and homeownership skills, keep loan records, help families choose their home sites and house plans, order the construction materials, and keep them motivated throughout the construction process. Most families use USDA Rural Development's 502 Homeownership Loan Program to finance their homes. This is a low\-interest loan based on the family's income and is available to low & very low income families in rural areas. The families generally save between $10,000 - $30,000 in housing costs using this sweat equity method. This channel features videos from various self-help programs around the United States.
