Susy Safe is an international surveillance registry of control of foreign body injuries in children. Currently it is the largest database in the world collecting data on these injuries. The idea of the project dates back to 2004 and was developed with the support of the European Union. At the present time, Susy Safe is a public registry supervised by the University of Padova and Prochild Onlus. Until now, the project has achieved important results: the establishment of an on-line database, containing over 20000 data, a risk assessment tool by product type group, a summary of data available on-line and accessible to everyone. The database was created thanks to the efforts of all doctors and medical institutions that decided to contribute by supplying data. Their precious contribution helped to increase present knowledge and to shape new tools for prevention.
