Watch how students use the Peter J. Shields Library, the flagship library at the University of California, Davis, by day and by night.
Built 75 years ago facing the UC Davis Quad, Shields Library is the academic hub of the university — a gathering place, a space for both quiet study and collaboration, for deep thought and discovery. Take a look inside.
The Lang Prize is awarded by the UC Davis Library to undergraduate students whose research projects make exceptional use of library resources, services and expertise and advance the students' understanding of the academic research process. Learn more at https://library.ucdavis.edu/langprize.
The Human Library at UC Davis is an event where people of different backgrounds can come together to ask questions, share stories about diverse life experiences, and have conversations that challenge stereotypes, prejudices and preconceived ideas. Modeled after an international movement for social change called the Human Library, people are the “Books” and they offer their stories to “Readers” through one-on-one conversations. Some of our "Books" have also chosen to share their stories more broadly through these videos. Meet more of our books at http://library.ucdavis.edu/humanlibrary or at one of our events. Special thanks to UC Davis IET Academic Technology Services for producing these videos.
