This is the channel of the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes (OSFL), a professional orchestra based in the neighboring cities of Corning and Elmira, New York. Created in 1995 with the merger of the Corning Philharmonic Society and the Elmira Symphony and Choral Society, the OSFL is led by conductor and music director Toshiyuki Shimada. The OSFL's talented musicians come from across central New York state and beyond.
The OSFL is a program of Corning-Elmira Musical Arts, Inc. (CEMA), a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Some of CEMA's other programs include the Musician's Choice Chamber Music Series, the Chorus of the Southern Finger Lakes, the Youth Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes, the Junior String Ensemble, and the annual Doreen B. Hertzog Concerto/Aria Competition for young musicians. CEMA's vision is to be "an integral part of the communities we serve and indispensable for its contribution to the pride, confidence, image, hope and success of those communities."
