Join us for a better conversation: bringing together different people from across health and beyond, seeing how the world looks from outside healthcare, and adding fresh perspectives to stale debates.
We’ll start at midday on Thursday 16 January and finish at 3pm on Friday 17 January. In between we will:
Start in Chinatown at the China Exchange with 15 simultaneous Melting Pot Lunches. Each lunch will based around different ways to answer the question ‘what do we not talk nearly enough about?’ Expect discussion of ignorance, joy, shame, and beyond.
We then scatter across London to visit a diverse mix of organisations we want to learn from, and understand what dominates their thinking. Visits will include the British Museum to talk diversity in Roman Britain, HM Prison ISIS to talk young offending and rehabilitation, Google to talk data, the National Audit Office to talk about what the perfect government programme would look like, the House of St Barnabas to talk about how a homeless charity ended up running a private members club, the Common Room to talk about purpose in life, Babylon to talk tech, and more.
We come back together for dinner and to share and make sense of what we’ve seen and heard. We’ll be 350ft up at the top of the Orbit in the Olympic Park. There’s a slide (non-mandatory).
On Friday, we’re at the Olympic Stadium, home of the 2012 Olympics, to talk about questions we want answering in the future, what health looks like from outside, and how we can use everything we’ve learnt when we return to our desks on Monday morning. If you want to pop round the Stadium, you can do that too.
And that’s not all. Watch out for further updates about speakers, further organisations and more coming soon.
As you might have guessed, our focus will be on what we can learn from combining different insights inside and out of health. In doing so, we want to spark the largest number of new ideas and different connections ever seen at anything even vaguely masquerading as a health conference.
