This is a documentary film of Madame Minako.
She was the last geisha in Yoshiwara.
The Yoshiwara district was the only officially licensed prostitution quarter in the city of Edo (Tokyo), and was home not only to courtesans but also to geisha.
The cultural traditions that had survived in Yoshiwara since the Edo period continued to live on in the body of the last geisha madame Minako.
※ notes: the Edo period 1603-1868
Ms. Makoto who is a director of this film met her in 2005 and covered closely until 2010.
This is the only documentary about the geisha of Yoshiwara.
