    Manual 3 D printing is a reference to replicating a boss or building up a structure to suit an accessory or repair a broken part and this can be done by a weld fusion overlay process, like building drip castles on the beach, as long as all situations are just right. This non profit project will take you under the hood of a welding helmet and show you how weld building aluminum can create solid metal mass to incorporate an accessory and also repair and reconstruct the existing mass that had to be removed to fix a mishap. This series has got 4.425 hours of how I getter done, even when things go wrong, I thought there may be a few tips and tricks, I can show you, so I kept rolling the project and take you to the finish along a multiple step process to prove, every step.   • Super Shaker project Play all

    The Super Shaker; our customer is into sand &recycling and one of their shakers shut down for some repairs and we were asked to do the machining for the hinge section on the piece of equipment. Leading off the series is an introduction of the project and prepping the shaft to be used creating trueness and bearing fits, Touching a bit on the use of snap gauges, Then moving on to dressing the ends of the mechanical tubing and the boring bar centers on each end. We then modify a set of cradle mounts for the lathe to hold cylindrical pieces for line boring.

    The Super Shaker 2; In part 2, we do all the turning & welding needed to create the basic additional bearing supports and start the installation of the toolbit insert.

    The Super Shaker 3; In part 3, we finish the tool bit insert and then mill, drill & tap to complete the additional bearing supports.

    The Super Shaker 4; In part 4, we dial in the first sleeve and sharpen a brazed tool bit with a chip breaker and remove the first chips from the bore on the longest sleeve in this project.

    The Super Shaker 5; In part 5, we finish the long sleeve and set up and complete the machining on the two remaining sleeves that finish the required work in this project, proving a successful line boring job in the lathe.

  • The Million Dollar Rest! Mail Call Play all

    The million Dollar Rest; this is a Mail Call project, sent to us by Tony Bonaviso, owner of Consolidated Machine & Welding, in New York, Tony has a 13" Le Blond lathe, which I thought was a Southbend, hence me calling it one, during the video series, with a broken pivot support ear and also was missing the entire top half. He sent it up to us to fix the ear, replace the missing top and add rollers to the final supports fingers. We combine the use of four machines and throw in some hands on talents to bring life back to this little steady rest that would have broken any small shops piggy bank in the tooling budget, but when I heard of the project, I decided to take it on as a Mail Call project for you the viewers. I took some time over a three day period to set up and film this project. Tony was only charged a token value of a good steady rest and the remaining time and materials that put this steady rest over the budget we donated, just for you!
