BetterBookClub.com

BetterBookClub.com is an innovative approach to company sponsored learning. The original concept grew out of a cultural program at cj Advertising in Nashville, TN during 2006. Agency founder and president Arnie Malham was an avid business book reader who absorbed and created the stack of conquered titles at home. His wife simply requested that “growing stack” be kept somewhere (anywhere) other than home. Arnie brought the 40 or so books to the office, put them on a shelf, and announced that anyone could “borrow” a book and absorb the knowledge.

As you might predict, but Arnie could not fathom… over the course of the next 90 days, almost no one borrowed, read, or even leaned toward reading any of Arnie’s precious and abundant books. Another idea emerged… Arnie wondered what would happen if he “paid” people to read. He added a value into the inside cover of each book ranging from $25 to $100 and announced his plan. Alas, BetterBookClub.com!
