The doors of East Lee County High School (ELCHS) were opened in August 2007 as a brand-new state-of-the-art facility. ELCHS is the third comprehensive high school in Lee County and it offers students in the East Zone access to all the traditional high school programs, along with the option of enrolling in one of five career academies.

Career academies have been developed with the assistance of Lee County’s business community, and reflect the fastest growing areas of the local economy. Comprehensive high schools are not vocational schools, instead they allow student learning in a contextual manner, integrating academic subjects with their real world applications. The first two years of high school build the foundation for students who wish to participate in academies. The Academies are designed to introduce students to a variety of career choices, along with the basic skills required for success within those fields.
