Kangra (Himachal Pradesh): On the occasion of third anniversary of Himachal abhi abhi, HH the 14th Dalai Lama said on an exclusive interview that “People have the right to decide whether the Dalai Lama institution should continue or not,” He emphasized that people should be consulted, not just Tibetan people but also large number of people from the Himalayan belt, including Himachal and Mongolia, who have been historically connected with the Dalai Lama institution and it was unto them to decide. Dalai Lama was speaking to Himachal Abhi Abhi at an exclusive interview on Saturday morning. The Dalai Lama was very categorical about his view on the institution, “It is not my business whether the Dalai Lama institution should continue or not. My business is that I am useful to others, so long as I am breathing. That is my only concern and commitment. After me, (is) not my business.” He said that “We Tibetans are too much depended on individual Lama, which is wrong. You should pay more attention to the teachings. The Buddha, many great Buddhist masters, including Tibetan masters have given us text and teaching. That is truly our teacher,” He also emphasized the need for India to hold International religious conferences as what had been organised in Chicago where Swami Vivekananda took the world by storm through his sharing on religious matters. His holiness said that many traditions in the world had no clue of training the mind through meditation. Indian tradition has in-depth knowledge of human psychology.
