I made this picture in part for the purpose of testing a new, small watercolors set I made recently.

I wanted to make a really portable watercolors set that would fit in a small pocket of my bag for some time now. I didn't need so many colors - just few should be fine for coloring simple sketches outside. I tried putting Schmincke watercolor half-pans into an empty Starbuck after-coffee mints tin can and voila! Six of them were a perfect fit!
Since this set is autumn themed I wanted to paint something appropriate to test it out - I chose some photos of a temple park in autumn colors that I took in Nara a few years ago. I painted with only the six colors from this set over a very light pencil sketch.
Paper: Canson Heritage cold pressed watercolor paper
Sketch: Bic Evolution pencil
Colors: Schmincke 6 colors portable set including:
482 - Delft Blue
536 - Gold Green (discontinued) use Transparent Green Gold instead
510 - Cobalt Green Turquoise
220 - Indian Yellow
349 - Cadmium Red Light
649 - English Venetian Red
