Established in 1917, Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute is a premier centre of research in oriental studies & Indology (Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Ancient Indian Languages, Classical Sanskrit Literature, Ramayana & Mahabharata). 

A treasure trove of rare knowledge resources, BORI hosts more than 153,000 books and 28,000 manuscripts. From Sanskrit and Farsi to English and Japanese, these resources contain knowledge written in more than 20 languages. The institute's digital library is also online at www.borilib.com, where thousands of digitised books can be read online.
