Die Elwedritsche Jagd

Elwedritschen sind pfälzische Fabelwesen. Man sagt, früher, bei einem starken Gewitter, seien einmal Hühner ausgebüxt. Diese haben sich im Wald versteckt und der Sage nach mit Enten und Elfen gepaart.

Elwedritsche sind sehr scheu, aber neugierig und deshalb lassen sie sich einfach fangen. Dazu braucht man eine Laterne mit Kerze (keine LED Taschenlampe), einen alten Kartoffelsack und das Wichtigste: einen Schoppen Wein, davon werden sie angelockt. Die Laterne stellt man in den Sack und schon kriecht die Elwedritsche hinein. Pass aber auf, manche Elwedritsche sind bissig.

The Elwedritsche hunt

Elwedritsche are birdlike mythical creatures (Wikipedia). The legend says: Years ago, chickens broke away from their enclosure during a strong thunderstorm. They hid in the forest and interbred with ducks and elves.

Elwedritsche are very shy, but also nosy which makes it possible to easily catch them. For this you need a lantern with a candle (not a LED torch), an old potato sack and, this is the most important prerequisite, a half liter of wine in a "Schoppen" glass which attracts them. It works like this: You put the lantern in the sack and immediately the Elwedritsche crawls inside. Be careful some of them are snappish.
