Public Interest Alberta is a non-profit, non-partisan, province-wide organization focused on education and advocacy on public interest issues. PIA exists to foster an understanding of the importance of public spaces, services and institutions in Albertans' lives, and to build a network of people and organizations committed to advancing the public interest.
We believe the primary responsibility of our provincial government is to advance the collective interests of the citizens of Alberta. This entails a commitment to equity, accessibility and democracy in our society and institutions.
Public Interest Alberta has identified eight broad areas on which to focus attention in the coming months and years. In each area, we have established a Task Force to identify current trends, plan strategic directions and implement action plans to articulate and advance the public interest.
PIA's Action Areas:
Human Services and Poverty
In addition to these Task Forces, Public Interest Alberta continues to monitor other issues of concern, such as health care and elections, and will work with our member organizations to disseminate information on these issues.
