Listen to this video to learn why I think the wrist snap or wrist flick softball drill isn't worth doing, and what you could be spending quality time on instead. Softball throwing mechanics will improve faster without this awful, outdated drill.
The wrist flick drill or wrist snap drill is an ineffective, outdated choice for a warmup drill on the softball field. In this video, I'll explain why the wrist snap drill is a waste of time that could be better spent on more effective softball throwing drills.
The throwing motion is both simple and complex, and the wrist flick drill teaches the exact opposite of what we want the elbow to do during the throwing motion. The wrist snap is something that occurs naturally at the end of the motion, much like the way a whip cracks as a result of the energy flowing from the handle all the way up to the end.
