Metro Parks Tacoma was one of four finalists in its population category for the national 2017 Gold Medal Award - the most prestigious award in the recreation and parks industry!

*Science and Math Institute at Point Defiance Park -- Tacoma Public Schools
*Swan Creek Park -- Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance
*Elementary Sports Program -- YMCA, Boys & Girls Clubs, and Tacoma Public Schools
*Adaptive Recreation/Warrior Transition Battalion -- Joint Base Lewis-McChord, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and Boys & Girls Clubs
*Specialized Recreation -- Pierce County
*Superfund cleanup/park transformation -- U.S. EPA
