Metro Parks Tacoma was one of four finalists in its population category for the national 2017 Gold Medal Award - the most prestigious award in the recreation and parks industry!

This video, which accompanies our application, highlights several projects or programs that reach more people because of creative partnerships. Those examples are:

*Science and Math Institute at Point Defiance Park -- Tacoma Public Schools
*Swan Creek Park -- Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance
*Elementary Sports Program -- YMCA, Boys & Girls Clubs, and Tacoma Public Schools
*Adaptive Recreation/Warrior Transition Battalion -- Joint Base Lewis-McChord, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and Boys & Girls Clubs
    *Specialized Recreation -- Pierce County
    *Superfund cleanup/park transformation -- U.S. EPA

Winners in the population categories will be announced in late September, at the 2017 National Recreation and Park Association conference. For more information, visit www.metroparkstacoma.org/news/?id=1516.
