UCI Center for Armenian Studies

Welcome to the Armenian Studies Program at University of California, Irvine. The Program is the result of years of hard work, determination, foresight, and collaboration between the Orange County Armenian community and the University. Together, they transformed the vision of a program in Armenian Studies into a reality starting with community-sponsored course offerings, an endowed public lecture series, and ultimately with the establishment of the Meghrouni Family Presidential Chair in 2015.

Armenian Studies at UCI provides undergraduate learning and graduate-level training in Armenian history from antiquity to the contemporary but with a special focus on the modern period. The teaching and research emphasis of the program centers on the study of Armenians and Armenia within a regional (i.e., Middle East and Caucasus) and world context, thus reflecting the global and interactive nature of Armenian history.
