Learning a new language is a process, & it should be a fun journey.
So don't beat yourself up! 
To learn Amharic in a short time, teach yourself to think in Amharic.
Most foreigners, think in their native language first, then go on to translate what they want to say in Amharic. The problem is that the sentence structures are different in your language. That's the slowest way you can take to achieve Amharic fluency.

Start simple. Take baby steps. Stay consistent. Do not give up!
