PLAYGROUND for the arts

PLAYGROUND for the arts is the centre of an international community of artists, students and public interested in dance and music. Since 2009 we design and implement educational programs for adults and children, people with or without disabilities, professionals and amateurs, organise festivals, performances, concerts and open jams.

It was founded by Yiota Peklari, Thanos Daskalopoulos and Petros Kourtis, 3 percussive artists coming from 3 different disciplines (Flamenco - Tap dance - Percussion), with a specific focus in rhythm studies and the mission to create bridges between disciplines and build an educational environment of collaboration, cross-training and inclusivity.

Our operation is based on ARTISTIC HUB, a contemporary residency model we created, which enhances artistic activities, offering long or short-term residencies to artists and art groups. We are currently hosting 10 resident artists, while more than 80 have collaborated with us in the last 7 years.
