Maxwell Street Presbyterian Church

125 years ago, Maxwell Street Presbyterian Church was created to reach out to the world. We transport thousands of pounds of food to Owsley County, one of our country’s poorest counties, every month. We were among the first congregations to take action to fully include LGBTQ individuals in the life of our faith community and to advocate for equality. We have a long tradition reflected not only in our historic building and sanctuary, but in the beautiful stories of countless people’s lives we've reached.  

This is a place to recharge and to give your energy, imagination, and love. Our worship services touch on current events, involve all generations of people in leadership, and have a spirit of winsomeness about them. Here you will find people who are passionate about God’s creation - about finding solutions to some of society’s most vexing challenges, about serving those who are the least among us, and about the gift of the arts and music among many other things.
