Friends of Guest House helps recently incarcerated women succeed at community reentry.
Friends of Guest House helps recently incarcerated women succeed at community reentry. Of the few reentry groups in Northern Virginia, Guest House is now "the" specialist for women, with 42 years of experience; an engendered approach; and help with all four “pillars of livability" for post-incarceration women: 1. Healthcare 2. Employment 3. Housing 4. Family/community reconnection And this program works! LESS CRIME: Within two years of release from incarceration-- * 70% of ex-offenders who receive no reentry support re-offend. * Fewer than 10% of Guest House graduates re-offend. TAX DOLLARS SAVED: * $25,000-65,000 (recurring): Incarceration in Virginia, per person per year. * $12,500 (one-time): The one-year Guest House program, per person. THE CHILDREN of incarcerated women, especially repeat offenders, are five-to-six times more likely to turn to crime. Helping Guest House women today protects their children’s future. DONATE!
