The Zanzibar Gender Coalition (ZGC) was established in 2005 to advocate for gender equality, human rights, and women's empowerment in Zanzibar. It consists of 14 NGOs working together as a strong civil society organization (CSO) to monitor government practices and push for accountability on gender-related issues. Officially registered in 2010, ZGC focuses on building capacity, increasing women's representation in decision-making, and collaborating with like-minded institutions to combat gender-based discrimination and violence.
