WW2 Escape Stories

True stories of escape from the Second World War in Europe.

Every documentary on WW2 Escape Stories follows one real person and their escape: a pilot who stole an enemy aircraft, a prisoner who tunnelled out under the guards’ feet, a child who jumped from a deportation train, a soldier who walked hundreds of miles to reach home.

We tell these stories from all sides of the war. Allied officers in Colditz and Stalag Luft III. Soviet prisoners breaking out of German captivity. German and Italian POWs escaping camps in Britain, Canada and America. Airmen guided over the Pyrenees by escape lines. Survivors who fled the camps and ghettos and lived to bear witness.

Some made it home. Many did not. Each story is researched from memoirs, records and historical sources, and told with the respect these people deserve.
