The Wireless Society of Southern Maine is Maine's most active amateur radio club, participating in Summits on the Air (SOTA) and Parks on the Air (POTA) events, the International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend (ILLW), ARRL Field Day, Winter Field Day, DXPeditions, special events, Islands on the Air (IOTA), and more! WSSM also hosts the annual Maine 2 Meter FM Simplex Challenge and Maine QSO Party (MEQP) contests, and offers several operating awards, including the Maine Lighthouses Award, Maine DX Award, and WS1SM Area Award.
