Khuntah Kinnte

Retracing their footsteps. Recovering their stories. Returning their soil home.

Khuntah Kinnte retraces the journeys and untold stories of enslaved Africans across the Americas, the Caribbean, and beyond. From former plantations, ports, and other sites of enslavement, we collect symbolic soil from the ground where generations of enslaved Africans lived, labored, resisted, suffered, and died—soil that bears witness to their sweat, tears, and blood.
This sacred soil will make a historic journey back to Africa, where it will become part of the Transatlantic Slaves Homecoming Memorial—a lasting place of remembrance, dignity, reconnection, and homecoming. Their footsteps remain. Their stories must be told. Their memory must never be forgotten.
