The Windmill Ceiling Fan & Lighting Company is located in Pilot Point, TX, which is an area of much historical significance. In 1850, the U.S. government awarded a contract to John Butterfield to establish and operate a cross country stagecoach line, carrying passengers and mail between the Eastern stops of Memphis and St. Louis to the Western stop of San Francisco.  One of the stops along this route was in Pilot Point, TX, where the mules could rest and the passengers could refresh themselves.  At all points along this route, the windmill provided necessary water, as this Southern route remained snow-free year round, but at the cost of extreme heat and exhaustion.  (visit the website)
