Vehicle ID Specialists

Vehicle Identification Specialists (VIS) was founded in 1998 by VIS President, Kyle McPhee. We are based out of Dimondale, Michigan. Kyle is a retired 31 year veteran of the Michigan State Police, holding the rank of Detective Sergeant since 1998.

Kyle is a former member of the MSP E.L. CID Auto Theft Unit, and is an instructor for multiple vehicle theft and identification technical courses, including being an adjunct instructor at 16 different colleges and universities across the State of Michigan.  Kyle is also a member of the International Association of Auto Theft Investigators, International Association of Marine Investigators, & the training coordinator for the Michigan Association of Vehicle Theft Investigators (MAVTI). Kyle is considered a subject matter expert in forensic vehicle ID, and has consulted investigators in five other countries.

VIS technicians specialize in the forensic examination and identification of altered, assembled, salvage, and burned motor vehicles.
