My story in a nutshell: I'm a 39-year-old outdoorsy woman who fell love with the idea of living off grid after spending a summer at an off grid property in the Pacific Northwest in my youth. After plateauing in my career and reconsidering my life direction during the pandemic, I decided to stop waiting for retirement to pursue my personal passions. In 2022, after two years of searching and planning, I bought land in Washington state with the aim of using it for an off grid tiny home. After being denied permits by county bureaucrats and being unable to move forward in my home state, I shifted directions and looked abroad. In 2023, I moved to Thailand where I have a 30 year lease on about half-acre of jungle land. I am now in the early stages of property development and documenting the entire process.
