  UMF is a Non Political global Maithili Forum of different field practitioner working for 
economic development, knowledge/intellectual traditions, rural uplifting, mother 
tongue promotion with special focus on Maithili language and literature, women’s 
empowerment, heritage conservation, Indo-Nepal relationship, art and craft 
promotion, cottage industries, promotion of vernacular, reading culture, water 
conservation etc.
    It has a wider cultural significance as it strives to revive and bring the cultural life of 
Mithila to the people across the globe. It aims at bringing writers, Artist, scholars, 
scientists, bureaucrats, Agricultural practitioner , painters, artisans, doctors, and law 
professionals and so many esteemed personality, professional , experts on one single 
platform to showcase the rich geo-cultural products that Mithila has to offer the 
world.
