Travis Holt’s Stories from the Hills

Travis Holt is a Newton County–raised historian, author, and cemetery preservationist whose family roots in the Arkansas Ozarks stretch back to the 1850s. Through his documentary series Stories From the Hills, Travis researches forgotten tragedies, pioneer families, Civil War–era events, and Ozark folklore — and physically restores memory by placing headstones for the nearly forgotten.

With more than 650 grave markers placed, his work blends research, oral history, and preservation to ensure Ozark stories are not lost to time.
