TKMG (Tree Kangaroo and Mammal Group)

The Tree-Kangaroo and Mammal Group (TKMG) is an incorporated community group based on the Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queensland, Australia. Our members are a diverse mix of local residents, scientists, farmers, artists and people from all over Australia and the world who are interested in, and concerned about the conservation of the rich mammal fauna of North Queensland.

Among the amazing mammal fauna endemic to the rainforests of the region are Australia's largest arboreal marsupials, Lumholtz's and Bennett's Tree-kangaroos (tree-climbers), 3 species of ringtail possum, Green, Herbert River and the critically endangered Lemuroid, Musky Rat-kangaroo. Wet sclerophyll habitat in the area is also home to many mammals like the Yellow-bellied Glider, Northern Bettong, and the Black-footed Tree-rat.
