Dr. Ruchir P. Patel, the real sleep doc

I am Dr. Patel the sleep doc where I will provide useful and practical information about the science of sleep, why we sleep, how to sleep better, how to know if you have a sleep disorder, how your sleep disorders could be treated, advanced treatments options for sleep disorders, sleep, metabolism, and weight, and more, but I will also discuss the relationships between mental health and sleep.  

I will review the art and science of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy and brain neuromodulation and how it can be a very impactful treatment option for mental health but many other conditions as well including insomnia.  

I trained in Internal Medicine and then completed specialty fellowship training in Sleep Disorders Medicine at Rush University Medical Center.  I became board certified in Obesity Medicine in 2016 and completed further specialty training in TMS at Duke University Medical Center and in the Netherlands.  I have been a full-time sleep specialist since 2010.
