October 7: The Day is a 7-minute animated documentary film about the Hamas massacre of October 7, 2023, in the kibbutzim along the Gaza border and at the Nova music festival. I am Shlomo Kashani, a Jerusalem-based author, filmmaker and composer. I made the film and composed its music, and I wrote the documentary book it is based on, October 7: Massacre, Captivity, Denial.

The film follows the day in the order in which it happened. It uses no archival footage, and its figures are not portraits of real people. The book documents the attack, the hostage system, and what happened to the facts afterwards. It asks one question. What if an atrocity destroys the evidence that would prove it?

I work by one rule. Later conduct in war cannot erase what occurred on October 7, and the urgency of October 7 cannot decide unrelated later claims without evidence.
