The Moxi Project

I’m Barry. I’m 54, a cyclist, and a below-the-knee amputee.

Ten years ago I gave up my car and rediscovered the freedom of two wheels. In January 2025, an angry driver knocked me off my bike. After months of trying to save my left foot, I chose amputation.

Right now, I’m healing, getting stronger, and figuring out what comes next. I’ve dreamed about bikepacking and touring, and I want to be capable of going wherever my curiosity takes me—not held back by my amputation.

The Moxi Project is about finding out what’s possible.

Maybe that means riding across the country. Maybe it means something completely different.

Either way, it’s going to take courage.  And a little extra.

For me, I call that Moxi.
