The Mottainai Way

I'm a Japanese-American. I grew up in the States, moved to Japan as an adult, and spent years in a household where a lot of ordinary problems had already been solved — quietly, cheaply, and long before anybody thought to write them down.

This channel is that list. Every video is one set of specific, testable things: what it is, what it does, roughly how long it takes, and where it does not work. If a technique only makes sense with a Japanese kitchen or a Japanese house, I say so. If it costs nothing and works tonight, I say that too.

Not culture shock. Not minimalism. Not a lecture about the planet. Just the habits that turned out to be worth carrying home.

Most of what I show came out of a house that could not afford to be careless — which is exactly the condition under which people work out how things actually behave.

If something here works in your house, tell me in the comments. I read them.
