The Consort Files

The Consort Files follows what happened to the women of imperial households after the man at the top of the household died. Ottoman, Mughal, Joseon and Qing.

Every video on this channel opens one file: the women of a royal household at the moment their world ended, when a sultan died or a dynasty fell. Then we go to the records and follow where they went. Ottoman, Mughal, Korean, Chinese, Mongol, Japanese and Egyptian courts so far, and each video names its sources.

New files every other day.
