Welcome to Progressive Education at The Children’s School in Oak Park, Illinois.

The Children’s School fosters a love of learning and critical thinking skills through a curriculum based on children’s unfolding curiosity.  Faculty guide students to think critically, to ask questions, and to actively participate in their own learning. Small classes emphasize project-based learning in a relaxed environment. 

The Children’s School does not administer standardized tests or letter grades. Instead, it chooses on-going individual assessment of each child’s learning progress and potential. Through democratic process and a social justice focus, children learn in a way that honors their voices and helps them make sense of the world around them
