The Artist Remains with PE Pinkman

The Artist Remains

Artificial intelligence is transforming how images are produced, circulated, and valued. Beneath the acceleration, a deeper question persists: what remains uniquely human in art?

The Artist Remains is a series of conversations and essays by Paul (PE) Pinkman — artist and curator — exploring how working artists are responding to the rise of AI. Each installment examines authorship, embodiment, intention, memory, risk, and the lived experience that shapes meaningful work.

This is not a reactionary space, nor a technophobic one. It is a forum for serious artists thinking rigorously about their practice in a rapidly shifting landscape — and for readers who believe art is more than output.

Rather than focusing on what machines can generate, this platform asks what artists alone can bring: presence, contradiction, vulnerability, and the irreducible mark of a life lived.

The tools are evolving. The artist remains.
