Susquehanna University Writers Institute

The Writers Institute at Susquehanna University began in 1993 when Professor Gary Fincke received a small grant from Dean Don Housley to start a creative writing program with three creative writing minors. In 1996, the creative writing major was approved, and since then, the program has grown exponentially to include talented students, faculty authors, and a visiting writers series; magazines published on campus including RiverCraft, Essay, The Apprentice Writer, Sanctuary, Flagship, Gingko, and The Squirrel; the Summer Writers Workshop for high school students; wonderful alumni who have published novels, memoirs, poetry, and short story collections, and who work in the publishing and editing industry; and more!
