What Stood Here

Reconstructions of cities that no longer exist.

Every episode rebuilds one lost city from the archaeology, the excavation reports and the written sources: what it actually looked like, how its water, streets and markets really worked, and what happened to it in the end. Tenochtitlan before Spain took it apart. Constantinople on its last day as Rome. Carthage before Rome erased it. Angkor when it was the largest city on earth. Babylon, Teotihuacan, Petra and Knossos.

No photographs of these places exist. Some were demolished, some abandoned, some lie under a modern capital that millions cross every day without knowing. What survives is fragments: foundations, inscriptions, and a few accounts written by the people who destroyed them.

Everything here is a reconstruction built with AI imagery from that evidence, and it is labelled as such. Where the record is uncertain, the video says so.

Ancient history, archaeology and lost civilisations. A new city every week.
