Staged Bible

Staged Bible — The Bible, book by book.

Each video is one complete book of the Douay-Rheims Bible (Challoner's revision, 1749–1752), read aloud word for word by a cast of voices, over engravings in the manner of a nineteenth-century illustrated Bible. Two further audio tracks, selectable in the video's settings, read the Latin of the Clementine Vulgate (1592) and the Spanish of Felipe Scío de San Miguel (1790–1793); captions are provided in all three languages.

A companion rail beside the picture keeps the names, the calendar, the map and the footnotes in view as you listen, with a verse count and an atlas of the places. The notes give facts only, and a quoted gloss always carries its author's name and date.

The texts are public domain and are never cut, modernised or paraphrased. The plates show no divine persons. The books are published shortest first.

Read aloud by multiple voices. The text, the plates and the notes were chosen and checked by a human.
